Do violent games cause violence?

 I can kind of see how someone can see violent movies and violent TV shows and can hypothetically see themselves killing someone. But there is a huge gap between that and actually picking up a knife or a gun and pulling the trigger. When you pull the trigger of a gun, you know what you're doing. I can't see how a normal and functioning person cannot see the big gap between seeing it on TV and pulling the trigger and seeing someone dying. I think kids can see the difference.
